Preschool Collaborative Impressionism Art: Painting With Dinosaurs

"T-Rex Chasing Bubbles"

Children (ages 3-5) were presented with art tissue circles, dinosaur figurine toys, and acrylic paints.

Each dino had matching colored paint to dip into and make tracks with (red Steggie had red paint.)

Blue Brachi had blue paint.

Some dinosaurs stomped on the pink canvas.

Some opted for the blue canvas.

This project was a superfun way to mix process-focused art, science, and dramatic play. Besides being able to explore colors, shapes, textures, and dino vocabulary, this activity gave the children the opportunity to create and verbally express their own unique imaginary narratives: some dinos ran, hopped, ate, swam, played, chased bubbles (yes, CHASED BUBBLES), and one even stopped to "lay eggs and die."
