Congress recently passed the well-meaning-but-poorly-created Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act, a law which goes into effect February 10, 2009. The law will adversely effect many of this site's very favorite Etsy artisans. Lots of these crafters are students or stay-at-home moms (who help support their families by making delightfully original keepsakes like hand carved wooden toys, eco-friendly dolls, and cozy, made-with-love blankies.)
