Exciting News! Starting January 2010, due to popular demand (yay!), El Dorado Nature Center will be starting a Year-Round Preschool Program with a Tuesday/Thursday morning format. Classes will be open to nature-loving (potty-trained!) kidlets ages 3 1/2 -5.
Our classroom is surrounded by 102.5 acres of wildlife habitat, and our trails, grasslands, and ponds create the ideal setting for hands-on learning.
Each day will center around a different nature-related theme, creative exploration and animal interaction activities (see the adorable baby opossum photo, taken during one of my classes last spring.) Children will gain basic school skills (like counting, colors, and socialization), and explore natural treasures through music, movement, stories, art, and open-ended discovery (all within our truly unique, outdoors-enhanced learning environment.)
Enrollment will be limited to only 12 children per class, will be taught by myself, Miss Michelle, and Miss B, and will run in 4-week sessions (so check back regularly for updated information. Pre-registration will likely begin in early December, and I'll be sure to link enrollment info as it becomes available to the public.)
*NEW INFO UPDATE: Unlike most Nature Center classes, registration for our new preschool sessions will be directly through the City of Long Beach, Parks and Recreation Quarterly. This means parents will need to enroll their children online via RecConnect or by phone (562 570-3111.) The next Quarterly release date is expected to be December 8.
